Who Wrote Genesis?

I havePage from Genesis been asked to talk about how do we know we can trust the book of Genesis? Who wrote it? Isn’t it just word of mouth, folk rumour? What evidence do we have about the origins of Genesis?

If any other book had the corroborating evidence that Genesis has there would be no question about it accuracy or its reliability. But Genesis talks about God and the creation of the world, of sin and its effects on us. It also shows God’s judgement a sinful world and on man’s rebellion. For this reason it is probably the most attacked historical document in the world.

So what are the origins of Genesis?

There are eleven statements in the book of Genesis that appear to give fairly clear indication of the origins of Genesis. These eleven statements all say something like ‘These are the generations of…’ then give the name of one of the patriarchs. Could Two Of Every Animal Fit On The Ark?

The commenter said:

“There is one Bible story in particular that I find difficult to accept as an actual event which in turn sheds doubt in general with regard to accepting the Bible as a literal record. Noah’s ark. Even with today’s technology I’m relatively sure it would be difficult, if not impossible, to build a vessel capable of housing two of each living thing on earth. Additionally there is the matter of food and water and keeping prey animals separate from their prey. The sheer size and logistics are a bit mind boggling.”
