Origins in Oxford, UK

Ray Comforts new edition

Ray Comforts new edition

We have been given the great privilege of joining with Ray Comfort and Living Waters and many, many volunteers to help distribute over 170,000 copies of Origin of Species.

I know you might be confused – “What? The Drappers are giving out Charles Darwin’s ‘Origin of Species’! You are joking?”

Well, I think it is only fair to give both sides of an argument. Ray Comfort, of Living Waters, has taken Charles Darwin’s original book and added a 50 page special introduction. This includes the History of evolution, Timelines of Darwin’s life, Intelligent Design vs. Evolution, as well as a clear gospel message.

Yesterday, Joel, Kirsty, Deborah, and I joined a team of around 20 others, organised by Paul Taylor of Answers in Genesis, to take the 150th Anniversary Special Edition “Origin of Species” book into Oxford to give out to University Students.

If you want to buy some copies to donate to your library or local school then you can buy them here.

You can see how God blessed us in Oxford in the video below. Read the rest of this entry »

March Of Repentance In London (18th July 2009)
Jul 2nd, 2009 by Andrew Drapper

TurnSignAndCones-SmallSaturday the 18th July we will be joining with many thousands for Christians on a march of repentance.

A march recognising that we, the church have a responsibility to the nation not only to call it back to repentance and righteous living, but the we have failed in out calling to be right before our God.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

In this passage God is not saying if that rebellious nation, but it my Read the rest of this entry »

What A Contrast: Baptist Times v Special Edition Films
Jun 3rd, 2009 by Andrew Drapper

DeborahToday I received an email from the non-Christian director of the film company that produced ‘Deborah 13 Servant Of God’. It was just such a contrast to the email I received the other day from Mark Woods, editor or the Baptist Times.

After a chatty paragraph about the short listing of the documentary for the Grierson Award , he tells us that the BBC have asked him for 500 words and says “I’m not sure how this will be used (I was only asked yesterday and they need it this morning), but I believe it’s part of the formal submission process, but it may well be published in supporting materials/website.”

He than says “I’m attaching the copy which has been sent to BBC – it’s already been approved by you but thought it best to run it by you.” and he then tells us of a minor change he has made to the original copy, and gives us his mobile number “If you have any issues”.

He has no requirement to do this. We have no veto with him or the BBC, but it is just he is a decent man.

The copy is descent and respectful and presents Deborah and her family in a balanced manor. How Mark Woods can say Read the rest of this entry »

Outreach at Lyme Regis Fossil Festival.
May 25th, 2009 by Andrew Drapper

Andrew giving out tracts at Lyme Regis Fossil Festival

Lyme Regis has a long association with fossils, (back to the flood of Noah’s time), and fossil hunting. For some time now, the town has been holding a Fossil Festival. This year’s has been bigger than most being the 200/150 anniversaries of Charles Darwin and his book.
[It was our, (the Drapper family's), plans to do creation based evangelism in Lyme Regis over this weekend that actually lead to us having to leave our last church. They wanted nothing to do with young earth, 6 day creation based outreach and thought it was wrong to be doing evangelism in Lyme Regis when the church is about 1.5 miles from Lyme by beach walk.]

Over a number of years we have tried to get the local churches to run a young earth marque or exhibistion in a church hall that is within the fossil festival area, but with little success. The Local Baptists, who have the most prominant church building in the high street, take a thistic evolution stand, or they did the last time I asked them. Bethany chaple who’s building is up a norrow back street do support the young Earth position and did allow Andrew Sibley to put up a small creation display.

The Fossil Festival could probably be better described as a festival of evolutionary propaganda to young children, (5-12 year olds). I do not have any photographs of the young children at the event as attitudes to taking or posting of photos of children make it difficult, but most of the teaching exhibits are directed at children and on Friday the place was full of young school children, (not teenagers, young children).

My wife is saying that I will get comments saying that I am prosalitising children too. Well, I never aim to reach chidren without their parents and I always address the message on the tracts to the parents and ask them to read it before the children. I normaly only use chidlren’s tracts to get an opportunity to talk to the parents. Some balance brought into the teaching that chidlren recieve would be no bad thing, but that is not the area that I am happiest at working. Deborah Leads Her First Christina Union
May 12th, 2009 by Andrew Drapper

Yesterday Deborah CUI had the privileged of taking Deborah to Woodroffe senior school in Lyme Regis to speak at a lunchtime Christian Union.

Time was short, but we were early enough to make the most of every minute. We arrived, the children arrived, but still we waited. It was to be led by the local school’s worker and he apparently has trouble getting through the school as so many people know him and want to talk.

The CU was opened by the school’s worker and started with a game, (Peter, Paul), Deborah was lost. Help! Had I brought her up as a social inadequate, (as so many have said of us as home schoolers), who could not even join in a simple game? No, there were some girls outside the door and no one was asking them in. Deborah got up out of the game and invited them in. Confusion! Still the game went on, with one empty chair. Deborah returned, but still looked lost.

Just play I mouthed. “Why? – There is no point in it!” She asked. She played. Much time used up they handed over to Deborah. My nerves were a wreck. Could she now get back into the stride? Was she thrown and not able to get back up? (never be the Dad of a Read the rest of this entry »

Muslim Lady Turning To Jesus
Nov 8th, 2008 by Andrew Drapper

Best five minuets I have spent on the computer for a long time. I am not much of a one for films with subtitles but this one is worth watching. Even though I lived and worked as a pastor in the east end of Birmingham, England, an area that had a population that was around 80% Muslim. I do not really appreciate the cost for a Muslim woman to follow Jesus. We have such freedom, yet so few take the opportunity they have to follow, this woman risks all to turn to Jesus.
