Evangelism in Weymouth and Lyme Regis.
Jul 23rd, 2009 by Andrew Drapper

Andrew giving out Finding God's Way booksToday, (Thursday 23rd July), Deborah and I have had a fantastic time in Weymouth. We met up with Jim Henry of the Open Air Mission to do Street evangelism. His area of ministry is open air preaching which Deborah and I went to see. We wanted to learn just how he sets up, what he does, and generally how the OAM go about street work. We had a great time with him and have learned a little about the art of open air preaching.

Deborah and I spent most of the time we were there doing one to one evangelism and tract distribution. We both had a good time and many good conversations with people being brought to the point where they have an understanding of their need of forgiveness and that Jesus died for us. God’s Dirt
Jul 15th, 2009 by Andrew Drapper

Hands full of dirtGod is sitting in Heaven when a scientist says to Him, ‘Lord, we don’t need you anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing. In other words, we can now do what you did in the ‘beginning’.’

‘Oh, is that so? Tell me…’ replies God.

‘Well’, says the scientist, ‘we can take dirt and form it into the likeness of you and breathe life into it, thus creating man.’

‘Well, that’s interesting. Show Me. ‘

So the scientist bends down to the earth and starts to mold the soil.

‘Oh no, no, no…’ interrupts God,

‘Get your own dirt.’

Jul 13th, 2009 by Andrew Drapper

United Nations Reserve CoinBloomberg.com is reporting that at this weekend’s G-8 summit, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev called for a supranational currency to replace the dollar. He illustrated his call by pulling from his pocket a sample coin of a “united future world currency.”

“Here it is, You can see it and touch it.”

The coin, which bears the words “unity in diversity,” was minted in Belgium and presented to the heads of G-8 delegations, Medvedev said, Read the rest of this entry »

The House of Lords back free speech
Jul 9th, 2009 by Andrew Drapper

House of lordsThe Government have said that criticising homosexual conduct or encouraging people to refrain from such conduct is not, in itself, a crime.

That is the good news, but they have been using this as a reason to remove free speech protection in sexual orientation ‘hatred’ law. The Government say that it is not necessary, insisting that the ‘homophobic hatred’ offence would not catch the expression of such beliefs.

The House of Lords however has defeated the Government over it’s attempt to repeal this free speech protection from a sexual orientation ‘hatred’ law. Peers voted by 186 to 133 to keep the protection in place.

Several members of the House of Lords were Read the rest of this entry »

No Rain For Five Years
Jul 6th, 2009 by Andrew Drapper

kenya droughtI was awoken at about 5am this morning by the sound of rain. Heavy rain! I know, there is nothing unusual about that. We are having a normal British Summer.

One of the jobs on my ‘to do’ list this morning was to phone Bishop Benson Kimanzi in Nairobi, Kenya. It was a very great pleasure, but so hard to get my mind around some of the things he was telling me.

“Some parts of Kenya have had no rain for five years”

Richard Dawkins launches children’s summer camp for atheists.
Jul 3rd, 2009 by Andrew Drapper

BBC Newsjack Logo

The Headlines across Britain on Sunday read something like “Richard Dawkins launches children’s summer camp for atheists” the truth is much more mundane but no less dangerous. The camps are being run by Samantha Stein, and Richard Dawkins is only lending support both financially and by endorsing the project.

I have been wanting to make some comment on this for some time, but in many ways the BBC have done the job so well I am not sure what to add to it.

The emphasis of these camps will aledgely be on ‘critical thinking’. This is to be epitomised by a test called the Invisible Unicorn Challenge. Children will be told by camp leaders that the area around their tents is inhabited by two unicorns. Read the rest of this entry »

The Choice.
Jul 3rd, 2009 by Andrew Drapper

I was sent this great little track today by a friend of mime, thought I would pass it along.

March Of Repentance In London (18th July 2009)
Jul 2nd, 2009 by Andrew Drapper

TurnSignAndCones-SmallSaturday the 18th July we will be joining with many thousands for Christians on a march of repentance.

A march recognising that we, the church have a responsibility to the nation not only to call it back to repentance and righteous living, but the we have failed in out calling to be right before our God.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

In this passage God is not saying if that rebellious nation, but it my Read the rest of this entry »
