Wow, that is a pretty harsh thing for a Christian and a God fearing lover of England to say about the British Prime Minster isn’t it?
Well, yes it is, but I cannot see what else it can be.

From popular culture to political movement, the momentum behind the ‘bring all religions together’ movement appears to be growing. Just back at the begging of November there was a meeting at Vatican City of Catholic and Muslim leaders, then we had the UN meeting on interfaith dialogue addressed by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, President Bush, Israeli President Shimon Peres and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown to name but a few.
This movement is not just starting. In October 1986, in Assizi Italy, on the initiative of Read the rest of this entry »
The Bible accounts of the Creation and the Flood of Noah’s day are absolutely foundational to what Christians believe. If God did not create the world he has no rights over it, and the flood account models for us God’s right to judge the world. If God did create the world he does have rights over it and the Flood teaches us He will judge it.
One of my children’s favorite DVD’s is The Hovind Theory by Kent Hovind. I was sat watching it the other day and it was a newer recording of it than I have watched before and he has a great clip in it from Walt Brown.
Walt Brown gives one of the best explanations I have ever seen of the science behind the Flood of Noah’s day in under 7 minuets. The clip is available on YouTube so I have put it in below. The quality is not very good, but Read the rest of this entry »
Islamic courts meet every week in the UK and rule on divorces and financial disputes. There is a growing demand by senior Muslims that sharia be given legal authority! The Islamic Sharia Council is apparently flooded with work. Hearing about 50 divorce cases per month, and responding to as many as 10 requests every fatwas. (a fatwa is a religious verdict on a religious matter.)
There is a growing number of British Muslims using the dozens of sharia courts or councils across the UK. These courts are often set up in mosques, Islamic centers and even schools and operate under a clause in the Arbitration Act 1996 which makes binding the decision of an arbitration tribunal if both parties agree to submit their dispute to it.
If when you here of sharia law you think of barbaric floggings, stonings or even amputations and beheadings. Well you couldn’t be further from the truth. Well for now. Read the rest of this entry »
‘Watch with Mother’, (an early BBC children’s TV programme), used to start by asking “Are you sitting comfortably?” How about you? Are you sitting comfortably?
Most of us are in the West. Most Christian’s lives are so easy and comfortable that we can hardly image ever facing persecution or trouble. We get up, go to work, come home, watch TV, or go to a church event, a Bible Study or a Prayer meeting and never face any opposition.
This lack of opposition probably ought to challenge us. Why is no one offended by our lifestyle or our opinions? Why does no one take exception to our attitude to current issues, our political views, our…? Could it be that we are not being ’salt and light’ in a dark world?
But even if you hold strong views and even if you are open about them, probably even if you are vocal about them, you will not often face ridicule or opposition let alone persecution. But it may not be very far away. Bubbling under the surface is a new militancy. Read the rest of this entry »
According to the Financial Times, (FT), shipowners are cutting their losses by scrapping orders for new ships.
Full story here. Robert Wright the FT’s transport correspondent reports that shipowners would rather loos tens of millions of dollars in lost deposits that to continue with orders that are now left uneconomic my the downturn in the economy. A great number of ships that under better economic times would be at sea laden with commodities of all types instead running up mooring fees and blocking ports.
As an example of what is going on Genco Shipping is taking a 53 million dollar lose on a deposit it has on six new ships. These six vessels would have cost 530 million dollars. In fact the FT is reporting a collapse in the short-term, spot market rates for dry-bulk ships carrying all manner of commodities. the report that the market is down over 70% since Read the rest of this entry »
The Telegraph is reporting that Gordon Brown is calling for a “new world order” to beat recession. Apparently the Prime Minister of the UK is setting out a five-point plan to create a “stronger and more just” world order to aid recovery from the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.
Nick Allen of the Telegraph reports that Mr Brown wants agreement on a world trade deal and reform of the international financial system.
Mr Brown want world leaders to use the current worldwide economic downturn as an opportunity to bring about worldwide reform of international financial institutions and then that they should go on to build a new “truly global society”.
He is expected to work towards this end at the coming emergency summit of world leaders and finance ministers from 20 major countries, the G20, in Washington next weekend.
He is talking about a new reformed International Monetary Fund which will act as a global Read the rest of this entry »
The Telegraph is reporting that “IMF may need to “print money” as crisis spreads”
They report that “the may soon lack the money to bail out an ever growing list of countries crumbling across Eastern Europe, Latin America, Africa, and parts of Asia” Neil Schering, of Capital Economics says “When you tot up the countries across the region with external funding needs, you get to $500bn or $600bn very quickly, and that blows the IMF out of the water.” One option under discussion is that the IMF uses its power to print money by issuing Special Drawing Rights, in effect acting as if it were the world’s central bank.
A world bank issuing a world currence… have I heard of these before somewhere?
Best five minuets I have spent on the computer for a long time. I am not much of a one for films with subtitles but this one is worth watching. Even though I lived and worked as a pastor in the east end of Birmingham, England, an area that had a population that was around 80% Muslim. I do not really appreciate the cost for a Muslim woman to follow Jesus. We have such freedom, yet so few take the opportunity they have to follow, this woman risks all to turn to Jesus.
